Business Start Ups, right first time

This is an all too familiar story. I talk to a business owner about their existing website and the tale goes something like this …

“we’ve been in business a few years now and when we started my nephew/friend/IT student/bloke at the pub made us a website. It’s looking a bit old now and we want to update but we have lost touch/they don’t have the time/they don’t do that anymore and we don’t know what to do”.

These situations can be sorted out with a bit of effort but it would be much better to get things right from the beginning. Because from the word go, you want your website to be a fresh, vibrant, up to date shop-front for your business. You want the latest news on there, current prices and offers and a lively and informative blog.

If you are scratching your head at this point and thinking “really”, please go and read a marketing book for small business or do a search for “content marketing”. Believe me, your website needs to be fresh and up to date or visitors and search engines will be turned off.

Business Start Up

Ok, so you are a business start up and you want to avoid the trap I describe above. What do you do?

Get a website based on WordPress, the world’s most popular Content Management System (CMS).Wordpress is a mature CMS, it works very well. There is a vast amount of add on functionality and it’s brilliant for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The styling of the website is controlled by a Theme. You can have a bespoke Theme created for your website or use one of the hundreds of free Themes that are available on the web.

Because it is mature and popular, there are lots of people who know how to use it. It’s simple enough to use that you or one of your staff can easily learn how to keep your own website up to date.

WordPress

We think that WordPress is that good, all small businesses should use it . So we have put together a package. We will register a new domain, set up your WordPress website, install a free Theme, set up all the email addresses you need, install a basic set of functionality and format and optimise three pages of content for £249.

We will hand over to you a fully built website, we will help you learn how to use it and we hold your hand as you learn to promote yourself using it.

We also charge £10 per month to host your website, carry out the monthly software updates to keep it safe and secure and to be there in an emergency.

That’s a total cost of ownership (TCO) from as little as £369 in the first year.

We have checked our price and it’s good value in comparison to other providers. It’s not the cheapest, but we believe you get what you pay for.

It’s also a lot less hassle than doing the whole thing yourself with a “free” provider.

We believe our Small Business Website Package is the natural choice for business start ups.
